Meet the Manor
They say to try and blend in, don't look like a tourist..I know though that I scream American the way my mouth drops in awe at the sight of the town of London or the land of Grantham, even the architecture of old building lining the streets of town. The manor is more gorgeous then any picture can show. After I had personally travel by plane more than ten hours and by bus another three. In which I got a total of maybe four hours of sleep, we were greeted by the principle of Harlaxton saying,
"Harlaxton has been waiting and planning for your arrival for 178 years" Harlaxton lays in the country side of Grantham surrounded by beautiful land that looks like its out of a painting. We went into the town of Grantham yesterday afternoon in order to get things we were unable to pack such as school supplies, shower necessities and more. We had a high top dinner last night. "Smart dress" apparel as the English would call it. The term high top is used to describe a dinner where people of honor, such as professors and administration sit on a plat form and eat and the attendees, us the students, sit on ground level tables. It was a magnificent dinner with wine, salad, chicken, vegetables, and desert. For every formal meeting we have we have a bag pipe player lead us in and dismiss us. It was after dinner that a group of us went into Grantham where we had our first experience of pubs and clubs which are a large part of the English culture.
So far we have found the town to be pretty welcoming as far as being American goes. We hope to find that the same hospitality will continue through the rest of our stay. Until next time I miss you all!

Harlaxton Univeristy
As my departure Date of August 26th is quickly approaching I find myself trying to squeeze in as much as I can in the next few days. I do not believe it has truly hit me that all if this is just around the corner.
I will be studying at Harlaxton which is located in the town of Grantham just about an hour north of London. Harlaxton Manor was built in the 1830s for Gregory Gregory, a wealthy Nottinghamshire businessman, to replace the original Elizabethan Manor House in Harlaxton Village. A straight mile long drive across a bridge, under a gatehouse, past 'the pyrotechnic display of the forecourt gates whether by day or night when the building is floodlit, is in itself a memorable, experience.
While there I will be studying communications and marketing as well as taking a British Studies class in which I will learn of Britian's history and culture. On various weekends I will be traveling London, Paris,Germanry, Greece, and Italy to name a few. My trip will come to an end on Decemeber 18th.
